For Houstonians, the drive out to Big Bend might have to start right away, but there are plenty of closer national preserves and historic sites. The fee-free Saturday is one of many events to happen: Sunday, April 18 is volunteer day, where you re invited to join in conservation efforts at national parks across the country.
