Arts briefs: Independence Weekend Celebration on July 3 at Truist Stadium

Community event The Winston-Salem Dash and the City of Winston-Salem have announced a community Independence Weekend Celebration on July 3 at Truist Stadium, 951 Ballpark Way, Winston-Salem. The event will include a collegiate wood bat baseball game, live music featuring Winston-Salem native Nashville recording artist Cooper Alan, food trucks and fireworks. Gates will open at 2:45 p.m. The schedule will be: 6 p.m.: Watchtower on the Lowes Foods Backporch Stage (Dave Matthews Cover Band) 7:30 p.m.: Thomas Mac on the Field Main Stage 8:15 p.m.: Cooper Alan on the Field Main Stage 9:30 p.m.: Independence Fireworks Show, presented by the City of Winston-Salem

Forsyth County 911 Center Awarded CALEA Re-Accreditation

Reply The Forsyth County 911 Center was recently re-accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. (Courtesy of Forsyth County Government) CUMMING, GA The Forsyth County 911 Center was recently awarded the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, known as CALEA, Public Safety Communications Re-Accreditation and was recognized for the accomplishment by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners during their June 3 meeting. Forsyth County is one of 11 Georgia 911 Centers that currently holds the CALEA Public Safety Communications Accreditation. Accreditation lasts for four years, during which the agency must submit annual reports attesting continued compliance with assessed standards. The county was last awarded the accreditation on Nov. 5, 2016.

Forsyth County Chamber names new vice president of economic development

Forsyth County Chamber names new vice president of economic development Slade Gulledge The Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce has hired a new employee to help attract new and expand existing businesses. Slade Gulledge was recently named as the chamber’s new vice president of economic development by James McCoy, the chamber’s president and CEO. “The Forsyth Chamber’s model for economic development includes building relationships with new and existing companies,” McCoy said.  “Most importantly, it focuses on shaping the future of our community in terms of infrastructure, qualify of life, education, talent and the types of businesses we feel will operate here.  Slade’s understanding of government relations and what it requires of a business to be successful fits perfectly with our pattern for economic development.”
