The Board of Education announced that Dr. Josh Lowe will be Forsyth Central High School’s principal beginning in the 2021-22 school year.
Lowe, currently serving as the school’s assistant principal, has worked in public education for more than 20 years. Moving from his hometown in Dalton, he began his career as a teacher and coach in other districts. He then moved up into administrative roles, serving as an athletic director and as an assistant principal at Jackson High School.

As drivers pass by Forsyth County’s School Resource Officers on the road, they may notice something new across the hoods of the vehicles a bright, shiny logo representing one of the county’s high schools.
In-Depth Wraps, a local family-owned vehicle wrap company, donated the wraps to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. Now, each of the SROs who serve the county’s seven high schools can show some school spirit with new vehicle wraps.

GAINESVILLE It s what you expect on the hardwood in mid-January.
The battle for region tournament seeding was on full display Tuesday night as the Gainesville boys basketball team (13-6, 5-2 Region 6-7A) battled back from a 15-10 first-quarter deficit and deflected several West Forsyth s blows to escape with a 59-52 victory at home.
Robert Reisman led Gainesville with a game-high 25 points. Eli Pitts finished with 15. Russell Miller and Joe Wortman had 12 each for the Wolverines (8-10, 2-5 Region 6-7A).

Ever since 2015, the Forsyth Central Alumni Association has chosen four high achievers from a competitive group of nominees to be included in the Forsyth Central Hall of Fame. Current members include former teachers, administrators, and prominent students.
This year’s group is no different; it includes a celebrated musician, star athlete, and others who have made positive contributions to society after having graduated from FCHS.
Due to restrictions surrounding COVID-19, FCAA was unable to hold an in-person induction ceremony this fall, but plan to include the 2020 inductees next year alongside the 2021 class when it is elected. Forsyth Central High School Principal Mitch Young recently thought back to when he was a teacher at West Forsyth in 2008, dreaming of a school where history, journalism, art and language arts teachers would all work together to form ideas and help students.
The school system set a basis for a similar program nearly 10 years ago with its Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Academy, or STEM, which they decided to place at Forsyth Central. Young said the program felt perfect because it allowed students from throughout the county to apply and take part in a program where the curri
