Fire burns house north of Lake Sherwood; cause remains undetermined

The resident escaped unharmed early Wednesday morning as fire did an estimated $80,000 damage at a house just north of Lake Sherwood. Mission Township firefighters were called at 3:58 a.m. to the scene at 3309 S.W. Friar Road, said a dispatcher for the Shawnee County Emergency Communications Center. Damages were estimated at $40,000 to the structure and $40,000 to its contents, said Mission Township Fire Chief Forrest Walter. The fire s cause was undetermined, he said. Troy Berberick owns the house at 3309 S.W. Friar Road, with the property having an appraised value of $164,660, according to Shawnee County Appraiser s Office records.
