Giving your home intention
At the end of February, I decided it was finally time to move my “office” from my kitchen table to an actual desk in another room. But which room?
Our home has three bedrooms, one of which is our bedroom, another is the guest bedroom and the third is a multi-use room, which serves as my closet and a lounging room complete with a daybed and cozy chair.
All of those rooms didn’t feel right for an office. The lighting wasn’t right and the
location wasn’t right either. The upstairs living room had potential space-wise, but the lighting wasn’t conducive to productivity.
CANTON The former Wells Elementary School is still a work in progress.
Gary Gergley has undertaken the renovations started in 2019 by his daughter Kynsey Wilson, who planned to convert the McKinley Avenue SW building into a home and community hub. Her plans changed, though, and he went from helper to project leader. Kynsey fell in love, and her family s in South Carolina, where she now lives, Gergley said.
She had purchased the three-story, brick school in February 2019. Constructed in 1926, the school became Canton City School District offices by 1983. It closed entirely in 2008 and had remained empty.
A portion of the first floor is now complete with Gergley s office and meeting rooms, where he trains people to run their own insurance agencies for American National. He lives in Zoar but spends most days at the school property, which remains listed under a limited liability company.
