IOC announcement great for Brisbane and Queensland

Former Queensland premier Campbell Newman says it's great for Brisbane that the International Olympic Committee announced it is the preferred city to host the 2032 Olympic Games. Andrews leadership prize nod is like the fire brigade giving arsonist a medal : Credlin

Former Queensland premier Campbell Newman says Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has “scared the bejesus out of people” and has hardly shown what should be considered to be real leadership. The Victorian premier has recently been shortlisted for the 2020 McKinnon Prize for his leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mr Newman said it was a “pity” that Premier Andrews was even being contemplated for the prize. “Real leadership is actually not relying on polling, real leadership is actually taking your community on a journey they don’t want to go on,” he said. “Real leadership would have him saying ‘we’ll take Australians who are trapped overseas with open arms, we will work with the prime minister to bring them home’. That would be real leadership”. Sky News host Peta Credlin said the nomination was almost like the “fire brigade giving the arsonist a bit of a medal”
