Former Central Bureau of Investigation Superintendent of Police K. Ragothaman (76) died in Chennai on Tuesday night. He was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai after testing positive for COVID-19, police sources said.
He was part of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that probed the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
Mr. Ragothaman, who wrote a few books on the high-profile assassination case and crime investigations, retired as CBI’s Special Unit SP in the mid 2000s. His latest book titled ‘Rarest of rare case - Murder of an advocate’ was published recently, police sources added.

He tested positive for COVID-19 a few days back and was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai where he breathed his last. He is survived by four children while his wife died some years ago.
Ragothaman was part of the Special Investigation Team that probed the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
He also authored several books on the high-profile assassination case and crime investigations.

Former Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) director Ranjit Sinha passed away on Friday morning in Delhi. He was 68.
He had tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday night, PTI reported.
Sinha, an 1974-batch IPS officer of the Bihar cadre, was the CBI director between 2012 and 2014.
He had also headed the Railway Protection Force and served at senior positions in the Central Bureau of Investigation in Patna and Delhi before his appointment as CBI chief.
