Former Botswana president Ian Khama has said he didn't attend the commemoration of a public holiday named after his father because he fears for his life.
Khama, who has fled his home country has approached the Joburg High Court, seeking a declaratory order to reject any extradition request should one be made.
Khama wants to avoid being incarcerated if Botswana decides to seek his extradition on what he regards as trumped-up charges of illegal gun possession.
