Originally hailing from New York, Ryan Gebhardt began releasing music with his band The Humble Cheaters in 2016. After releasing two albums, he embarked on what was then a solo endeavor, Stanley. His self-titled debut LP, Stanley, was released on Forged Artifacts (USA) & King Forward Records (NL) in the fall of 2017 and coincided with Ryan's move to Minneapolis.
In a couple weeks, the Philadelphia songwriter Greg Mendez is releasing a new self-titled album. We shared “Maria” from it already, and today he’s back with a pair of hushed, scraggly tracks, “Best Behavior” and “Hoping You’re Doing Okay,” which close out the album. “‘Best Behavior,’ written towards the end of the recording process, is the newest song on the record,” Mendez shared in a statement. “‘Hoping You’re Doing Okay’ is the oldest, written in 2009. Both deal with complicated, non-romantic love. The video was shot by my good friend, Craig Scheihing, and features two people who are very important to me.” Check them out below.
The prolific Philadelphia musician Greg Mendez has been putting out music for almost a decade now, but he’s going the eponymous route for his new album Greg Mendez, which will be out in May. He announced it a few weeks back with “Goodbye / Trouble,” and today he’s back with new single “Maria,” which is downbeat and melodic, Mendez’s voice slipping into each line. “I wrote this one when I had a concussion. I felt terrible and was in a deep brain fog but it came out pretty quickly,” Mendez said. “I don’t always write songs that are this literal but more broadly this one deals with struggling to relate.” Check it out below.
