SIU Tree Walk Organizers Finish Online Virtual Tree Walk
The SIU Forestry Club and Tree Campus Higher Education Committee had to cancel their annual campus tree walk in the fall because of COVID-19.
The tree campus committee has to provide a service learning event to maintain their tree campus designation.
COVID-19 restrictions prevent them from bringing hundreds of kids to campus as they usually do, so they switched to a virtual tree walk.
Superintendent of Grounds Dave Tippy says the committee took it a step farther and made 360 video as well so people feel like they’re on campus.
“Tried to provide the information to people to get them there and tell them about our campus, about some of the programs we have to offer down here, just show them how nice a place we have here in Southern Illinois.”
