在西南氣流的嚴重影響下，中南部降下了可觀的降雨量，根據氣象局的統計，從5日到8日上午9點，高雄的六龜區累計降雨量已經達到了1301.5毫米，其中最大時雨量則下在茂林區，已達到了110豪雨，從過去的統計數據來看，高雄一年中降雨量也才1986毫米，也就是說僅僅2天多的時間就已經下8個多月的雨量，僅此於八八風災，也造成了94條溪流達到紅色僅警戒，緊急撤離了2370人。
