An interest group, Mandate for National Values and Integrity in Nigeria (MNVIN), has asked the foreign affairs minister, Ambassador Yusufu Tuggar to resign over his ‘unplanned, hasty and clumsy recall of Nigerian ambassadors and high commissioners in various foreign missions resulting in a national embarrassment’. The group in a statement signed by Malam Abdul Aliyu and Melford Nwokike, national coordinator and national secretary respectively, accused the foreign affairs minister of mismanaging simple diplomatic procedure and pushing President Bola Tinubu through a messy process.
Nigerian Ambassadors and High Commissioners in various Foreign Missions at the weekend called out the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusufu Tuggar for allegedly inciting junior workers to lock Ambassadors out of their offices and residences and stop them from using their official cars. The instruction to lock the diplomats out was contained in a memo signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Adamu I. Lamuwa, and sent to the Charge D'affairs of the Missions, dated November 3, 2023.
