Dec. 19, 1940 – Making popcorn balls and pulling taffy was a treat for Girl Scouts having a Christmas party in the home of Mrs. Leslie Wright. Foreign Minster Yosuke Matsouka pleaded with the United States to stay out of the war lest the world face Armageddon.
Dec. 19, 1960 – Cynthia Shelton and Bobby Jackson Frey were named All College favorites at Wayland Baptist College. Plainview senior Tri-Hi-Y girls were given the award for the best presented bill in the House of Representatives at the Hi-Y Youth and Government Conference in Austin. Diane Davis and Brenda Simmons coauthored the bill.
