Paris, 13 June 2021 (SPS) - Sahrawi Foreign Minister Mohamed Salem Ould Salek said that it was high time for France and Spain to bring Morocco to the negotiating table with the Sahrawi officials and to cease the war that has been going on since last November in Western Sahara, making respect for the Sahrawi people’s alienable right to self-determination conditional on the resumption of negotiations.

Algiers, 5 April 2021 (SPS) - Sahrawi Foreign Minister Mohamed Salem Ould Salek claimed Monday, in Algiers, a full membership of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) to the United Nations, as a member State, renewing SADR’s willingness to support UN’s efforts to speed up the decolonization of Western Sahara. The Sahrawi state claims its seat at the United Nations since Morocco, which erects obstacles to the holding of a referendum on self-determination, is convinced that the Sahrawi people is unanimous on its right to independence and sovereignty over its homeland and the land of its ancestors, said Ould Salek during a press conference.

Algiers, 21 December 2020 (SPS) - Sahrawi Foreign Minister Mohamed Salem Ould Salek said Monday the UN Security Council stopped short of imposing a solution to the conflict in Western Sahara, becoming with MINURSO (UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara) a part of the problem. Security Council and MINURSO are part of the problem. They even started to try to change the substance of the resolution, the Sahrawi Foreign Minister said in an interview with Le Soir d Algérie daily newspaper, stressing that MINURSO is a UN mission that does nothing. The ceasefire was broken. It (MINURSO) had the prerogative to act but did nothing, he said.
