(MENAFN - Kashmir Observer) Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha with foreign envoys Jammu: The abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir s semi-autonomous status marked an end to the years of sufferings of the people and brought socio-economic development in the region and empowerment of people due to the efforts of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Territory s Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha said Thursday. Years of suffering for J & K people ended on 5th August 2019. The efforts of respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi ushered the Union Territory into a new era, which has brought about socio-economic development in the region and empowerment of the people , Sinha said, while interacting with the Foreign Envoys who were on their two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir to assess situation.

J&K: Foreign envoys assess ground situation, interact with locals in Budgam
SRINAGAR: A delegation of foreign envoys arrived in Kashmir amid spontaneous shutdown on Wednesday meeting newly elected District Development Council members, municipal corporators and selected civil society members and journalists.

National Conference leader Omar Abdullah on Thursday took a swipe at the foreign envoys who are on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir to assess the ground situation in the Union Territory post the revocation of its special status under Article 370.
“Thank you for visiting Kashmir,” Abdullah said in a tweet. “Now please send some real tourists from your countries to visit J&K.”
The National Conference leader had on Wednesday also raised questions about the purpose of the visit, as diplomats from 24 countries landed in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the visit will be pointless as the diplomats will meet only “only hand-picked” individuals.
Envoys from Europe and Africa will visit Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday to assess the development work and the security situation in the union territory, especially after the successful completion of the District Development Council elections, officials said on Tuesday.
Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], February 17 (ANI): A group of 24 diplomats from foreign missions, including the European Union, arrived in Srinagar on Wednesday. The envoys will visit Kashmir and Jammu regions in the Union Territory.
