that s the area where we will be seeing the worst of this. this is our forecast precipitation. interesting all where the cold air and warm air is. if you live in the eastern united states have you noticed it s been really warmth last couple days. heavy snow in some of these locations 18 inches, running all the way up to minnesota. everything off to that is going to be big thunderstorms as it eventually moves into this direction, weekend and early into next week. winter in the west and feels a little bit more like spring in the east. forecasted highs for friday. temperatures sitting into the 60 s. 67 degrees in louisville for saturday. 51 degrees in chicago. all that cold air just hovers back in the west. and that s going to be the case running probably all the way into the new year. warm in the east. unfortunately all that winter weather for hec folks traveling is something people are going to be dealing with in the western states. griff: now we will toss it over to carley. what have y
city. janice: yes, it is a rainy day. a coastal storm just off the coast of new york city going to bring the potential for heavy rain, coastal flooding and snow on the back side. take a look at it. the temperatures are chilly over the northeast, parts of the great lakes. you can see it s 38 here in new york city. here s the coastal low we are talking about. most of it is going to remain offshore. we are going to get kind of a yucky day across the northeast. that is a meteorological term. you can see the rain that moves. in and then the snow on the back side of this as we get into tomorrow morning. but it will be out of here by tomorrow afternoon. so, not a whole lot of precipitation. it is going to be windy though by the way in some cases. gust us of 50, 60, 70 miles per hour off the coast. there is a look at your forecast precipitation. we could see some rain across arizona and some mountain snow over the northwest. so don t forget your umbrella. back inside. steve: that s right. we a
