iran planned in the highest levels to continue work related to nuclear weapons under the different guises and use the same personnel. i want to give you another example of iran s nuclear weapon s related activities that continued after project amad. you remember the fordo facility? it was a secret enrichment facility underground that the iranians built under a mountain. you don t put thousands of centrifuges under a mountain to produce medical iotonights. you put them one reason. enrichment of nuclear weapons. but fordow was designed for
fordo facility that is underground is converted, that we have an unprecedented inspections regime that we have snap-back provisions if they cheat. you know the facts are the facts. and i m not concerned about what others say about it. now, with respect to congress my hope i won t prejudge this. my hope is that everyone in congress also evaluates this agreement based on the facts. not on politics not on posturing, not on the fact that this is a deal i bring to congress as opposed to a republican president, not based on lobbying but based on what s in the national interests of the united states of america. and i think that if congress does that then in fact based on
centrifuges will be removed and put under continuous monitoring. iran s stockpile, 98% of it will have to be shipped out of the country, gotten rid of. iran will have to stop enriching rur uranium at the fordo facility and stop producing weapon grade plutonium and redesign the reactor so it cannot do that again. the next president will inherit an iranian nuclear program that is significantly rolled back under this deal. we believe that that s the right course of action. white house deputy national security adviser ben rhodes. ben, great to see you. thanks for your time. thanks. good being with you. when we come back presidential hopeful and con tr verse she firebrand donald trump weighing in on the iran nuke deal. remember to keep telling us what you think at pulse.msnbc.com. our question for you today do you trust iran to stick to its side of the nuclear agreement? plus hillary clinton weighing in on the iran deal earlier. but that was just the start of a jam packed visit on c
weapons. the unpleasant realty is is the only way to stop iran from getting nuclear weapons is if somebody is prepared to use military force. the president himself said all the time all options are on the table but never meant it and he doesn t mean it now. that s why it s up to israel one way or the other. so would you expect that israel would take some military action? israel going to sit back and be unhappy with this and watch it unfold which ever way it unfolds? i think they should have taken action five years ago. what do they do now. should act today before it gets worse. under the terms of the deal the europeans will help iran develop advanced centrifuge technology at that fordo facility that you mentioned. once europeans are in that facility it s immune from bombing. can we expect in your view that there is going to be a nuclear arms race in the middle east. the nuclear arms race has already begun. we have known for some time the saudis have options on pakistan s ex
reliably account for these for this excess. and another thing that concerns me is that all the reductions that rah announced keep the material inside iran. so that it is under u.n. control. when they break the u.n. seal, it s in other words, when they violate the agreement, it s a dead proposal. they had the fordo facility built into the mountain side that we had absolutely no idea about and they lied about for years. how can we begin to have confidence in any agreement. we can t have confidence in the agreement. we must have confidence in the verification system and the inspection system and that will have to be refined.
