The issue of littering at Strandhill has become more prominent recently.
That s according to Cllr Rosaleen O Grady, who says she has been contacted by a number of people dismayed by rubbish being left outside bins along the seafront.
The Fianna Fáil councillor tabled a motion requesting that the council put in place a plan to ensure they are emptied and monitored on a regular basis.
In response, Acting Chief Executive Tom Kilfeather told councillors that bins are emptied once a day, and twice a day during peak season. Anything else beyond that, Mr Kilfeather said, is not achievable within current budget constraints.
