CLEVELAND, Ohio For Cleveland artist and author Karly West, “The Scholarly Banana” series became a way for her to nerd out about one of her favorite topics: folklore.
So far, West has published two books in the series, retelling a couple of “The Brothers Grimm” stories. “Fitcher’s Bird” was released in 2019, and “The Juniper Tree” arrived on Jan. 2, 2021.
But West’s books aren’t classic renditions of historic tales. Instead, West invented a new character to help tell the stories and provide some humor along the way: a spectacled, humanoid banana.

The average amount owed was $481 for water customers, compared with $281.39 for Cleveland Public Power. All of these numbers were as of Nov. 9; it’s not clear how they’ve changed since then.
