stations are for the great lakes. there were so many people affect by this in ways i think the people were surprised when you and others would show it on the news here, going to food pan y pantries and not being able to pay the bills and getting eviction notices and things like that. why would anybody serving the country have to worry. a government employee had to call into the show and tell us how they were missing their mortgage payments, how they couldn t get food. i had a tsa worker telling me i can t go to work because i can t afford the gas, the gas station won t give you a loan, gas on credit. no, it was powerful, the things you and stephanie did during the shutdown. you know, you would tear up watching i did every day. msnbc. yes. we weren t watching people after a natural disaster, after a tsunami hit their home. these were regular people either

rebecca is the executive director of florida association of food banks. florida is among two dozen states where at least 15% of the population relies on food stamps. how much of an uptick has there been at food pantries that you work with over the past week since those automatic cuts went into effect? well, i don t know that we ve seen the impact of that at our food pan industries just yet because it s just beginning to roll out. people haven t necessarily seen the drop well, they have seen the decline in their program, but they haven t necessarily seen the impact immediately. but our food pantries over the past four years have seen an increase from 72 million pounds of food distribution to 173 million pounds. so we ve seen over four years during the economic decline here in the state of florida a dramatic increase in food distribution and we anticipate that this will simply add to that burden. the cuts here that we re talking about, those who rely on
