The HSBC Malta Foundation has donated â¬5,000 to Fondazzjoni Sebħ to help it provide psychological assistance to children and adults recovering from multiple traumas. Â
Such help forms an integral part of an array of services provided by Fondazzjoni Sebħ aimed at establishing a nurturing environment that promotes emotional growth and resilience so people can reach their full potential, regardless of the challenges and difficulties they may be facing. Currently, Fondazzjoni Sebħ is offering care to 37 children who live in residential care in a safe, loving and nurturing environment, and to 7 women and their children in the residential shelter and after care service, for survivors of domestic violence.
Bank of Valletta partnered up with Jays of Sunshine, Fondazzjoni Sebħ and Dar Merħba Bik to bring some Christmas cheer to 200 children who are going through tough times.
BOV staff from various units voluntarily worked to identify the children’s needs and source gifts for them. Gifts were donated to all children undergoing treatment at the Rainbow Ward and to children residing at Fondazzjoni Sebħ and Dar Merħba Bik.

When Ruth needs a word of advice or wants to share one of her children’s milestones, she heads to Dar Sagra Familja, in Żabbar, a children’s home that she left over a decade ago.
Following a grim year, this Christmas she is looking forward to spending some quality time with Sr Denise Vassallo, her ‘mother’ since the age of two.
Ruth, now 29, is not the only one looking forward to the festive season, however, this year the home’s residents will have to adapt to a ‘new normal’.
Santa Claus will be wearing a mask and will not be accompanied by his assistants while the annual parties have been postponed. Sr Vassallo has taken the preventive COVID-19 measures in her stride and hopes the home’s 13 residents will still enjoy the festivities.
