Nikkei Asia disassembled and analyzed the latest virtual reality goggles from Facebook parent Meta, then mocked up a 3D look at what we found inside the Meta Quest Pro. Our findings show that the parts which play a central role in information processing, such as semiconductors and storage devices, are mainly made in America. As the U.S.-China conflict over advanced technologies deepens, our analysis also shows Meta s procurement strategy: Avoid geopolitical risk in procuring semiconductors but use low-cost Chinese products for displays and circuit boards.
