Commercial licenses extended CHARLESTON The West Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles has announced the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has extended the expirations on some commercial driver’s licenses and commercial learner’s permits because of the pandemic. CDLs and CLPS that expired on or after March 1, 2020, have been extended to May 31. The 14-day period for CLP holders to take the skills test has been waived until May 31 while medical examiner’s certificates and medical downgrades that expired on or after Dec. 1 have been extended to that date as well.

The issue and the receipt of a large grant for a major water project were among matters discussed by Follansbee Council. FOLLANSBEE Efforts to upgrade the city’s water treatment system have received a major boost in the form of a $3.125 million grant. Mayor David Velegol Jr. introduced Joe Edmiston, an independent grant writer hired by the city, who shared the news at Monday’s Follansbee Council meeting.
