PETERSBURG The investigation into issues with the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine has forced localities around the area to hit the pause button on mobile vaccination clinics and make on-the-fly switches in what will be dosed out at some of the more stationary clinics.

PETERSBURG The city has turned to a former acting fire chief in Newport News to take the reins of the Petersburg Fire Department on an interim basis.
Scott Liebold, who retired from his post in Newport News, will take on his new role Jan. 16. Petersburg city spokeswoman Folakemi Osoba said Liebold will serve as the interim while the city looks to bring on a full-time chief.
Since 2018, fire administration has fallen under the umbrella of the city s Public Safety Department and its then-director, Police Chief Kenneth Miller. A deputy fire chief handled the day-to-day operations of the fire department.
