Are celebrating the arrival of a very rare baby giraffe. This six foot tall youngster, who is yet to be named, arrived on boxing day. The Rothschild Giraffe is said to be one of the most endangered species of the animal, with fewer than 1600 left in the wild. Time for the weather. now in terms of the temperature? yes. whether or not you are a lover of cold and snow, things will go up and down over the next few days in terms of temperature. today we have a mild interlude and temperature is still below average but not as cold for most as recent days with not as much frost and ice but quite a lot of cloud which keeps temperatures dropping to five. the wind around this area of high pressure from the atlantic, drawing on moisture, especially in eastern parts. a cloudy day in central and eastern england, northern scotland. some clear skies in much of scotland where we have the lowest temperature this morning. they could be some fog lingering. brighter spells perhaps in northern ireland and western parts of england and wales but most have temperatures 6 8. still colder in parts of scotland, particularly where there is lingering mist.
particularly in the middle of that high, and that high will stick around for quite a few days. here it is on sunday and into monday, that high pressure is not budging, it s a strong high. but within it, some relatively cool air because the winds blow around, like so. the colder air that s in place across central parts of europe will be shunted in our direction, so that southerly, southeasterly flow of air, if you like. whereas, out towards the west of the uk, we have more southwesterly winds, so milder conditions, temperatures around 10 degrees, some spots of rain, up to seven in the centre of the high. that high also means very light winds and the potential for foggy conditions through the course of monday morning and into tuesday. this is tuesday morning, and you can see quite a bit of murkiness there. so, with high pressure comes the promise of settled and sunny weather in the afternoon but that does also mean that the mornings could be really grey, murky and dull, with fog lingerin
