波动越快，频率越高。从频率范围来看，毫米波是指30 GHz到300 GHz之间的电磁波。5G标准同时定义了Sub-6 GHz(6 GHz以下频段)和毫米波的设计。也就是说，毫米波是5G的重要组成部分。徐晧说：“毫米波的引入带来了技术上的巨大突破。5G以前，在3GPP的国际标准中我们从来都没有使用过毫米波。” 从世界范围看，Sub-6频谱资源在大部分国家都非常紧缺，包括中国。因此，大家把目光投向更高频的频谱。 “通信资源，就像管道送水一样，管道越粗，流量越大。”徐晧说，“在Sub-6频段只能用到100-200MHz的带宽，但毫米波频段可以用到800MHz的带宽。等于获得8倍以上的速度增强。这是大家对毫米波高频频段感兴趣的原因之一。 ”事实上，全世界很多国家和地区都在做5G毫米波的应用规划。
