back on stocks. remember, they re up 30% in the dow since the election. you had ten years of steady gains and ten years of an expansion. i think it is fair as an individual investor to talk to your adviser, talk to your spouse or partner, figure out how close you are to retirement. if you haven t been rebalancing, you are full of stocks here. it is important to look at. talk to the professionals, right? that s the simplest advice. listen, they re unsettling times coming up on the holidays. it is understandable we will stay up on the story. thanks very much. in just 90 minutes, michael flynn, the president s former national security adviser will face sentencing for lying more than once to the fbi. president trump has a message for his national security adviser, good luck. [leaf blower]
face any kind of jail time because really the special counsel here is supporting that movement, calling him a substantial cooperator and that all the information that he has provided has been crucial and essential to their investigation. thanks very much. two big lies there. he lied about conversations with the russian ambassador during the transition about encouraging the ambassador not to retaliate for u.s. sanctions imposed at the time for russian interference and trying to get a vote against this un security council resolution. he was given multiple opportunities to take those lies back. it is significant. let s bring in legal analyst shannon wu. two partners of his were just indicted for illegal lobbying yesterday that flynn was involve in. and yet it appears the special counsel will recommend no jail
this. but does that fear begin to penetrate what has been a rock solid and unwavering base for the president? well, you certainly have seen growing frustration among the american public when it comes to perceptions of the russian investigation and the ways in which increasingly teams have implicated the president. you have more and more of the american public now at least believing that perhaps the president in fact involved in wrongdoing. and actually a slim majority of the public not really buying the president s statement that there was no collusion and really trying to down play the nature of the context between members of his campaign and moscow. i think we obviously have been led to believe that the justice department is going to follow guidelines that suggest that a sitting president cannot be indicted and the special counsel will ultimately hand over a report to congress. that s frankly where a lot of
judge who is a legal oracle in that world said the following. i want to play it for you and get your reaction. there is ample evidence. this doesn t require too much analysis. to indict the president. the question is do they want to do it. the doj has three opinions on this. two say you can t indict a president, one says you can. what do you when the statute of limitations is about to expire? all three agree you indict in secret. keep it sealed and release it the day he gets out of office. you can t let a person go scot-free because he happens to be in the white house. we don t know what s been sealed. you heard that there. there is ample evidence, he says, that doesn t require too much analysis to indict the president. and i m not relying everything on his judgment because there are multiple opinions about
85% approval for the president here. so is all of this coverage just sort of being tuned out at this point by many people? well, no. as journalists it is not our job to make people disapprove of the president. no. but what i m saying is the american they can think whatever they want about that truth. have the american people become numb? i guess my point is have they become numb to a lot of this. i think it started being an issue when we suffered from this outrage fatigue because it was always some new outrageousness coming from trump in particular. but what breaks through to the public are still facts. and the fact is that so far the russia investigation has been a lot of confusing stuff and speculation because all the facts haven t yet been revealed. and what we have seen, especially since the election, is more and more facts being laid out clearly so that rather than people speculating or wondering or being mystified,
