lynne swan. bill: rasmussen poll 55% say they don t like it. we have two minutes left, give me 90 seconds on what rasmussen believes is holding back the american people from supporting obama care? what he says, and he is right, is that most people believe it will add to the deficit. most people believe it would lead to a middle class tax increase and most people do not believe the cost projections. but to understand the anatomy of why this support has been so the antipathy has been so solid, you have to look at the different motivations. seniors were the first ones to oppose it because they are worried about cuts. then the fiscal conservatives came along because they re worried about the deficit. and conservatives because they are worried about socialized medicine. the latest eruption has been democrats, liberal democrats who say, hey, don t be on saysed about let s focus on jobs. what are you spending morning noon and night on health care thing when we are close to 10%
getting the lion s share of the press when we re not talking about ethics scandals and the jobs piece does not get the kind of attention it s not, you know, we pass a $15 billion jobs bill in the senate with 12 republican senators, but it kind of gets lost in the discussion. i do think that once we get through these votes and i do think health care will pass both houses and be signed by the president. we can move forward and have tremendous attention and focus on jobs. and i agree, he s got to get there. before i let you go, the democratic national committee, there s been some criticism from the outside on how they re preparing for 2010. what say you? i say that, you know, elections are not just about preparing a campaign, but they re also preparing a message and an agenda and holding to what you campaigned on previously. and if the democrats don t get their act together to support a reform agenda and change
we missed that. we talked about the end of the year. we missed that. now the president is saying march 18th. i think march 18th is really unrealistic. congress goes on break for two weeks beginning march 26th. i think that is more of a realistic goal. however, as you know, the senate is going to be the real test. the republicans are looking at what kind of delay tactics they can use, that they can employ to try to slow this down, if not stop it. and so even march 26th is going to be a tough deadline to meet. but the president knows, and democrats know, that the election is getting nearer and nearer and nearer. and if they re going to get this done, they ve got to get it done sooner rather than later so they can focus on jobs and give the public what the public so desperately wants which is the attention, the focus on jobs and the economy. right. many would say this health reform push is a short-term political disaster but potential for long-term gain? well, i would say this i thi
