cobb, a question about that flynn pardon where he wouldn t rule it out a little bit earlier. is ty cobb definitively ruling out a flynn pardon? well, ty cobb is saying there are no discussions. it is not under consideration. i don t think that s necessarily intentioned with what president trump said earlier. president trump said he hasn t made a decision. he doesn t want to talk about it yet. ty cobb s statement and president trump s earlier comments would be entirely consistent but for that yet that president trump added at the end of his discussion there. talking i don t want to talk about any pardon for michael flynn yet. that s the daylight. just because ty cobb says there aren t any considerations, he doesn t know what s going on inside the president s mind. from my reading from what the president said he seemed like he was leaving the door open potentially to a michael flynn pardon. indeed. spent a long time this morning bashing the fbi which was odd because he was at quantic
now, the fact that mueller only charged flynn with one count of lying when he possibly has much more to charge him with if he wants suggests that mueller may be holding additional federal crime charges over flynn in exchange for information. and, of course, a presidential pardon would change the game. now that might not be obstruction, but the comments are not currently in support of the judicial process. it s worth noting that the president through this grenade into the fbi s most high-profile case on his way to a commencement address at the fbi academy. with any luck, attendees were already seated with their phones off when the president continued with the rest of what he had to say this morning. i can say this, when you look at what s gone on with the fbi and with the justice department, people are very, very angry. thank you very much, everybody. people are very, very angry. people are very, very angry. who? what people? well, i ll tell you who, those
exactly not ruling out at least a flynn pardon. how surprising would that be for members of the fbi who have been lied to by mike flynn? well, the interesting thing about a flynn pardon is it wouldn t necessarily stop mike flynn from testifying against donald trump. if that s indeed what he plans to do, katy. because he has already proffered, given to robert mueller, everything he knows about potential illegalities, about whoever else they re looking at in this investigation. so if he s pardoned, then he no longer has a fifth amendment right against self-in crimination, they could conceivably compel his testimony, he would have to say what they already know he knows, and if it s about criminality involving anybody at the white house, a pardon doesn t help them. but it would absolutely be a political earthquake, i think. and other analysts have said, you know, potentially constitutional crisis if he starts trying to pardon his way out of the russia investigation. also interesting ot
mueller and the justice department officials and the entire fbi. a hearty congratulations to all the graduates out there at the fbi academy in quantico. good luck out there. my panel is here with me. we should note that white house attorney ty cobb says there is no consideration being given to a flynn pardon, but, honestly, scott, it s really only the president of the we ve learned this all by now, it doesn t matter what ty cobb or rex tillerson says, or whatever, it s what the president says. the president pardoned joe arpaio on a whim without going through the normal pras pros, as is his right to do under the united states constitution. we re making a lot about this because that s what we do. the president can t stop talking about these issues. i wish he would cease discussing these matters and talk about the amazing successes of the day. the guy is getting the big ticket item today, tax cuts and tax reform and we re dangling out on pardons. i want the white house to be on
30% said definitely or probably not. they were also asked whether they re confident mueller s investigation will be conducted fairly. 56% said they were very or somewhat confident. when you break it down by political party, that made up 68% of democrats, 44% of republicans. as mueller s investigation progresses, a piece by vanity fair says republicans are keen to, as they put it, quote, play on right wing doubts about the investigation, so wing popular distrust and priming the public for an eventually flynn pardon or even a mueller takedown. that includes seizing on the news that mueller removed a top fbi agent in his investigation, saying he may have shared text messages that were critical of trump. here is what the effort to take down mueller looks like in terms of the coverage on fox news. mueller s credibility is in the gutter tonight with these new discoveries. his conflicts of interest, his
