Bye bye Best Buy. The electronics store is closing at Destiny USA in Syracuse
The company announced the store closure under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining (WARN) Act, that will affect 70 employees. Best Buy will be closing permanently on April 17, 2021, for what company officials are calling economic reasons.
Claire Larson, a spokesperson for Best Buy released a statement on the closing. “The decision to close a store is never an easy one and we are grateful for our Syracuse area customers who have shopped with us over the years. Customers can continue to shop Best Buy at our Dewitt location which is 7 miles away.”
Historic 160-Year-Old Cider Mill Near Cooperstown Closing
A message posted to customers on Facebook states the Fly Creek Cider Mill and Orchard is closing on Sunday, January 31, 2021.
Another family favorite destination may be closing for good due to the pandemic. The water-powered cider mill on the banks of Fly Creek has been pressing cider for 162 years. Many families look forward to the wagon rides, the duck pond, and the famous cider tour.
History of the Fly Creek Cider Mill:
Now in its 162nd year, Dutch settlers in Fly Creek Valley called the low-lying swampy area “vlie.” Over time “vlie” turned into “fly,” hence the hamlet’s unusual name.
