Fluor’s UK-registered company has reported a £72.4m pre-tax loss for 2019.
The Fluor Ltd subsidiary of the Texas-based engineering and construction giant reported the loss for the year ending 31 December 2019 on revenue of £1.06bn. Half of its revenue (£530m) is generated in the UK, where it works in the energy, infrastructure and life science sectors.
A spokesman declined to say whether the 2019 loss was linked to its work in the UK. Fluor Ltd derived £511.8m of its 2019 income in the Middle East with continental Europe accounting for most of the rest of the annual revenue.
Fluor is targeting more work in the UK infrastructure market and, in 2020, was appointed to manage Highways England’s £4.5bn smart motorways programme. It also bid alongside Bam Nuttall and Ferrovial for the HS2 Euston and Old Oak station contracts. It did not win either deal.
