Volleyball Signs Ella Rae Goana

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Seminoles have a new freshman libero in St. Louis native Ella Rae Goana. She joins Head Coach Chris Poole and the Florida State Volleyball Team with her first season on the horizon in the fall. Goana played high school volleyball at Nerinx Hall in Webster Hall, Missouri earning several honors including Conference Player of the Year and first team all-district, conference, and state selections. During her time, she led Nerinx Hall to its first-ever Final Four appearance in 2020 before reaching the same feat again the next season. She also played club volleyball for HPSTL Royal, winning the 2023 Gateway Region Championship and earning selections to the Under Armour All-American Camp in 2021 and 2022. Besides volleyball, she competed in high school basketball for three seasons receiving First Team All-District and an All-Conference Honorable Mention. Outside of athletics, she graduated high school with a 4.4 GPA that never fell below 4.0 throughout her four years

Volleyball Adds Kiari Robey to 2023 Class

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Head Coach Chris Poole added a key piece to the Florida State volleyball roster on Monday as former Oregon Duck Kiari Robey has signed with the Seminoles. CP Robey was a key piece for Oregon on their way to the Elite Eight. The 6-2 middle blocker tallied 156 kills and a team-high 107 blocks. In three matches in the NCAA Tournament, Robey tallied 21 kills and 12 total blocks while hitting .549. Robey's 1.05 blocks per set ranked 10th in the Pac-12. Robey's best game of the 2022 season came against UCLA where she tallied 10 kills and 8 blocks in a five-set victory over the Bruins. Robey is from Atlanta, Ga., where she played for Hilgrove High School. Coming out of high school, Robey was ranked the No. 67 overall player in the 2020 class by PrepVolleyball.com. Noles End the Season at NCAA Tournament

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Florida State volleyball team's (19-11) season came to a close on Friday night with a three-set loss (24-26, 19-25, 21-25) to Northern Iowa (27-7) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Maturi Pavilion in Minneapolis, Minn. The first set was tight from start to finish with no team being able to take more than a two point lead. The Seminoles looked to be on its way to a first set victory, holding a 24-22 lead, but the Panthers roared back with a 4-0 run to take the first set. The second set saw a similar path to set one with both teams tied at 15, but the Panthers went on another run to take a 19-15 lead and would close out the set to take a 2-0 match lead. The Panthers used another run in the middle of set three to gain some separation from the Noles, but FSU fought back to cut the Panther lead to one at 18-17. Noles Qualify for Its 24th NCAA Tournament

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State volleyball team learned its postseason fate on Sunday night as the Seminoles were selected for the NCAA Volleyball Tournament. The Noles will travel to to play on . J The Seminoles have been a staple in the NCAA Tournament under Head Coach Chris Poole. The Noles will be making its 13th NCAA Tournament appearance under Poole. The Noles have only missed two tournaments since Poole's arrival in 2008. Last season, the Seminoles won its first match in the NCAA Tournament since 2016 when they beat Kansas State in three sets. The Seminoles finished 30th in the RPI this season and built a great resume through a season that featured many different lineups because of the injury bug. The Seminoles put together key wins over top 50 teams in James Madison, Yale and two wins over Miami. The Seminoles tallied 11 total wins in ACC play and have now won 10 or more conference matches in 17 seasons dating back to 2005.

Noles Fall at No. 13 Georgia Tech

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Florida State volleyball team (19-10, 11-7) fell in three sets (19-25, 14-25, 22-25) at No. 13 Georgia Tech (20-7, 13-5) Saturday afternoon in front of a packed and loud O'Keefe Gym in Atlanta, Ga. The Seminoles struggled to get anything going offensively in the first set as the Yellow Jackets used a key 8-2 run in the middle of the set to create separation. Georgia Tech would go on to win the set 25-19. The second set saw a similar path to the first set as the Yellow Jackets pulled away again in the middle of the set to dominate the second set 25-14. The third set was the most competitive as the Seminoles were able to find some rhythm offensively. Unlike the first two sets, the Seminoles were able to use a run of their own in the middle of the set to take a 16-15 lead.
