TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State softball senior Kathryn Sandercock was named the ACC Co-Player of the Week on Tuesday morning after her performance against No. 4 Clemson this past weekend. This is the second time Sandercock has been named ACC Pitcher of the Week this season and the sixth time she has been named ACC Pitcher of the Week in her career. Sandercock shut down one of the top offenses in the country this past weekend as she picked up a win and two saves against the Tigers. In total, Sandercock pitched 11.1 innings and allowed just one earned run in three separate appearances. Sandercock allowed just six hits while striking out five batters. She threw a complete game in the second game of the series holding the Tigers to just one run. Sandercock is now 13-3 this season and has won her last six decisions. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 4 Florida State softball team (32-7, 11-1) returns home for a midweek matchup with Jacksonville (18-20, 4-8) tomorrow night at 6 p.m. at JoAnne Graf Field. The game can be seen live on ACC Network Extra. The Seminoles are coming off an impressive weekend where they swept No. 4 Clemson on the road. The Seminoles are owners of a seven game win streak and have won 11 out of their past 12 games. With the sweep over Clemson, the Seminoles are now in sole possession of first place in the ACC with a two game lead over the Tigers as well as owning the tiebreaker. Pitching By Committee The Seminoles have taken on a new style inside the circle this season. The Seminoles have used seven pitchers this season, four of which who have pitched more than 30 innings. The Seminoles used four pitchers against Clemson and held the Tigers, who were ranked top five nationally in scoring, to just one earned run. The team boasts a 1.70 ERA which is ninth in the country. The Noles improved to 7-0 all-time against the Tigers and now hold a two-game lead in the ACC standings. This was the first time the Noles have won three-straight games against a top five opponent in the regular season and the first time they have done it since they won four-straight games against top five opponents in the 2021 Women's College World Series.
The Tigers found momentum early as they were able to push a run across off a Seminole error in the bottom of the first. CLEMSON, S.C. - The No. 6 Florida State (31-7, 10-1) softball team put together one of its most impressive days of the season as they defeated No. 4 Clemson (37-3, 12-2) in back-t0-back games in front of a sold out McWhorter Stadium in Clemson, S.C. The Seminoles took the first game of the doubleheader 7-0 and came back to take game two by a score of 4-1. The Seminoles snapped Clemson's 29-game home winning streak and 23-game winning streak overall. The Seminoles are now in sole possession of first place in the ACC after clinching their first top five road series win in school history. The Noles also improved to 6-0 all-time against Clemson. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - For just the second time in school history and the first time in ACC play, the No. 6 Florida State softball team (29-7, 8-1) will play a three-game series against a top five team on the road when they head to Clemson, S.C., to face No. 4 Clemson (36-1, 12-0). The two teams will play on Thursday (6 p.m.), Friday (7 p.m.) and Saturday (noon) at McWhorter Stadium. Both Thursday's (ACC Network) and Friday's games (ESPN2) can be seen on national television with Saturday's game being streamed on ACC Network Extra. With Clemson entering its four season as a softball program, the two teams have only played four times, all which came during the 2022 season.
