Fire Rips Through Former Daycare Building In Ensley : NorthEscambia com

May 11, 2021 Fire destroyed a former daycare building in Ensley Tuesday afternoon. The fire was in the 9000 block of Chandler Street, behind Crown Church. The building was not occupied at the time of the fire. We are told the church was using the building as a community resource center. Flames were seen coming through the roof of the building before firefighters arrived on scene. There were no reports of injuries. Reports indicated that lightning may have sparked the fire, but the the exact cause is under investigation by the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office. Jacksonville police say a man died after a house fire

Sheriff s Office homicide detectives are investigating the fatality as an undetermined death.  The victim was found about 1:15 p.m. by firefighters after they extinguished the house fire in the 1900 block of Erline Drive. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Sheriff s Office Sgt. Adam Blinn said. Police said it appeared the fire started in the kitchen. The cause of the man s death and the cause of the fire were not immediately known. Blinn said the Medical Examiner Office will try to determine how the man died. The Florida State Fire Marshal s Office is investigating the cause of the fire, he said.

Apartment Fire Damages Two Units : NorthEscambia com

December 14, 2020 An apartment fire in Escambia County Sunday left two families without a home. The fire was reported about 1:55 p.m. at the Dogwood Place Apartments in the 1700 block of Dogwood Place, not far from the New Warrington Spur and Mobile Highway. Two units were damaged in the fire that is now under investigation by the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office. The two apartments did not have smoke detectors, according to officials. Escambia County Residents can get a free smoke detector installed by calling (850) 595-HERO. The fire is represented by the third and fourth red bulbs in Escambia County’s Keep the Wreath Green fire safety campaign.
