Julian Quintana was born and raised in Miami and has had a bug for writing ever since he was a child.
Since his time in high school, Julian has been fascinated with the filmmaking process and being able to work with cameras, microphones, writing scripts and working with editing software. Paired with his passion for writing, he decided to combine those skills and pursue a career in journalism.
Julian understands the importance of journalism and the power reporters have on the public. He enjoys telling stories about local communities and how everyday lives are impacted. His reporting was centered around Cutler Bay where he would attend town council meetings to see what changes were being made in the town.

While working on a news story in Liberty City, during the heart of the pandemic, journalism student Racquel Lewis was sprayed down from head to toe in disinfectant before being allowed to enter the residence of the woman she was interviewing.
The unusual experience took place as she covered a story for FIU’s Department of Journalism + Media’s South Florida Media Network (SFMN), an award-winning student-run online multimedia platform with bureaus in New York City, Washington D.C. and Miami.
The media network showcases the work of journalism students as they cover everything from local to national news.

MIAMI, FL Nearly 20 years after her death, Berkley Calvin Curtis Jr. was arrested Tuesday for the murder of Rebecca Peña, Miami-Dade police tweeted. He faces second-degree murder charges.
Peña went missing in the early morning hours of April 11, 2001. She was last seen alive around 2:15 a.m. as she walked to her car in a Liberty City parking lot after finishing filming a scene as an extra for Will Smith s movie Ali, South Florida Media Network reported.
