Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a Digital Bill of Rights into law Tuesday outside of the Villages. The bill gives Floridians more control over how tech companies use their data.
With no federal data privacy law, states are passing their own. Washington's My Health My Data Act, Tennessee's Tennessee Information Protection Act, Florida's SB 262 latest in inconsistent patchwork state laws regulating data collection data sale by tech companies.
For violations, S.B. 262 would provide for the same enforcement provisions as those in the FDBR, including exclusive enforcement by the Florida Department of Legal Affairs, civil penalties of up to $50,000 per violation, tripled penalties, and a 45-day cure
