FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – Florence School District One will expand in 2022.
According to a letter from South Carolina State Superintendent Molly Spearman, Florence School District Four will be consolidated with FSD1 effective July 1, 2022.
At the same time as the consolidation, the Timmonsville High School would be retired and students of the school would attend appropriate high schools within FSD1, Spearman stated. She added the building would continued to be used for the middle and elementary schools, and possibly for other community needs in the future.

FLORENCE, S.C. (WMBF) – Citing a record number of COVID-19 cases in Florence County, officials announced that Florence School District One students will continue with fully virtual learning for an additional week.
According to information from the district, this includes the week of Jan. 18 through Jan. 22, with schools closed on the 18th in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr., holiday.
All schools will return to the three previous forms of instructional delivery on Monday, Jan. 25, district officials said.

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – The Horry County School District has opted not to participate in rapid COVID-19 testing for students sponsored by the state.
Officials with other school districts that are open to rapid testing day said they’re still waiting to receive their supply.
Members of Florence School District One said they’re working with the state Department of Education and the Department of Health and Environmental Control to finalize the process.
