The Edmonton area has reached an all-time high for active cases in any of the province’s health regions, passing 10,000 for the first time.
The zone, which encompasses the city and neighbouring municipalities, hit 10,194 cases on Monday.

Active cases have more than doubled in the Edmonton Zone in less than a month. As of Nov. 17, there were 4,138 in the region.
Monday’s record also comes less than a month after the province reached the same troubling milestone: Alberta recorded more than 10,000 active cases across the entire province for the first time Nov. 16.
