they had on decca. it is near east 181st street in the cities bronx. that building was full of families, kids and residents as they fire tore through floor by floor. more than 60 people were injured at least 30 people have life-threatening injuries. for take a look at some of the video we ve gathered throughout the day of the aftermath of this blaze. this morning dozens calling 91 for help, sending at least 200 fdny firefighters out into action by those firefighters going up on the ladders, breaking those windows in the apartment complex and pulling out men, women, kids trying to do everything they could to save those people. people i talked to in site-specific on the 12th floor one of those women said she grabbed her daughter tried to run out but that thick black smoke was too much to bear, take a listen. i couldn t function i m one of the fire department took my daughter away i could not find her.
bomb yun bomb unit was on standby and they had officers inside the building and units inside the building checking and looking. yeah, they went floor by floor, went through our offices looking for anything, making sure there were no devices. to remind people, there were a phone call that was made of a person claiming to have placed five devices in the building. so the nypd responded, took it very seriously. they went through everything, floor by floor. they searched. it was the emergency services unit, the special response teams, several dozen police officers going through our building looking for anything that could possibly be suspicious. okay, what do you guys need? what are you looking for? okay, i have it right here. i m just going to be honest, they re trying to fix it where i can hear and they want to put my hearing device on. they want me to call back in? is that what they re saying?

person is in custody? reporter: that s right, jake. we re told by law enforcement sources that at least they believe that the person is the one that carried out the shooting but still very early in the investigation and going room by room, floor by floor by and make sure no one else is there. that person is in custody. we re tloeld we re told there s multiple people wounded. there inside the newsroom of capital gazette and they believe that includes some fatalities. so again, multiple wounded including some fatalities inside the newsroom of this small newspaper there in annapolis. again, this is very early from the information from the scene there. law enforcement is still obviously trying to figure out exactly get control of the situation. you can see from the pictures
newspaper. that s the information law enforcement is going on. they re obviously going office by office, room by room, floor by floor, in this office building to make sure they get to every single corner and find who may have been responsible for this at this point. they believe that they have isolated the person. they ve taken the person into custody. the threat for now appears to be over. again, there s a lot of work that they need to complete here. again, they believe there s multiple injuries, multiple wounded. there may be fatalities. they believe the situation is contained. we re getting word that the president as well as the first lady both at separate locations today, the president in milwaukee, the first lady currently in arizona, they have been briefed on the shooting. again, happening in annapolis, maryland, at the capital
