moves in across parts of the appalachians, monday, same story. tuesday, by the time we re done with this, we ll see an additional likely 20 to 25 inches of rain in some spots. now, we ve seen all kinds of damaging pictures that have come in over the last eight, 12 hours from the storm. want to watch what we re watching with the heavy flooding ongoing. we re going to see the rain across the appalachians here sunday and monday. all of that rain has to drain down through the rivers. these are flood forecasts, river forecasts for some of the rivers across north carolina. take a look at this little river here. talking about a record river level. that doesn t happen until say sunday and monday. here s the levels now. we re going to be about four to six feet higher than we have ever been on this river and stays that way for five to six days. all of that water continues to pull offshore. go to northeast cape fear river.
us. i m don lemon in tampa, florida, where preparations are under way right now for monday s cnn tea party republican debate. we begin with the tenth anniversary of 9/11. in the arms of the angels the nation, if not the entire world, pauses to mourn the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives ten years ago on the morning of september 11th. former presidents bush and clinton were in shanksville, pennsylvania, just this afternoon to dedicate a memorial to the heroic passengers of united airlines flight 93. their sacrifice on that extraordinary day, no doubt saved countless other lives. president obama has declared this weekend national days of prayer and remembrance. he and the first lady spent some time today at arlington national cemetery. they visited a section where service members killed in iraq and afghanistan are buried. just a short distance away at the pentagon, former president bush and his wife laid a wreath of flowers at a site known as the 9/11 stone. 184 peop
500% of our rainfall. so much rain, everything too much at once. it goes through the watershed system and ends up into the mississippi river trying to drain its way down into the gulf of mexico. the river has crested. this is the area we re really focusingi focusing in on now. even though many of you have crested into cairo and new madrid now, it s going to stay at record levels and in flood for the next week to ten days, so this is going to be ongoing for a while. and then we ll watch this rush of water make its way all the way down into louisiana in the upcoming weeks. now, the rainfall here, you can see we ve had a little bit more today. it hasn t been all that much. additional rainfall is going to be pretty minimal in the upcoming days. that really is taking into account the flood forecasts that we re talking about as the water moves downstream. now, memphis, tennessee, is next
