The first medical facility opened at the Fairfield-Suisun Army Air Field on July 1, 1943. It was called the 4167th Station Hospital. The hospital moved on May 20, 1949, to the location that many longtime locals remember and was soon nicknamed “the hospital on the hill.”
The base was renamed in 1951
