Police out and about at Flintshire polling stations

POLICE in Flintshire are calling on residents to continue casting their votes respectfully and safely. Sgt Emma Prevete of the Flintshire South police team said officers have been out and about at more than 40 polling stations today. She said: We have Operation Trepang running today, which is the Neighbourhood Teams policing the elections. We have attended 43 polling stations and will continue to do that throughout Thursday. Geographically, Flintshire South is a huge patch so it is time consuming - but it is important for public engagement and visibility. If we come across any issues it s a case of problem solving.

Police prepare to engage with pupils and businesses as lockdown end draws nearer

Insp Iwan Jones took up the post in Flintshire South in December. He has previously been part of police teams in Wrexham Rural, Flintshire North and South and as a Force Incident Manager. On his priorities for Flintshire South in the forthcoming months, he told the Leader: We will be focusing on crime prevention with our neighbourhood policing teams and that is all about having a meaningful relationship with the community. As we look ahead to coming out of lockdown, we re preparing for how we engage with licensed premises and the hospitality sector as well as youths. We want to support pupils as they transition back to school so we need to make sure we engage on the appropriate level with the schools.
