Victim: The B&M store the defendant stole from A twenty-four-year-old Whitehaven man has been fined by magistrates after he admitted stealing a set of headphones worth £30. Aaron Brian Jones, from Coach Road, Whitehaven, committed the theft at the town s B&M Homestore in Flatt Walks, Workington Magistrates Court were told. According to the official court record, he stole JVC headphones on Tuesday, March 2. Magistrates imposed an £80 fine and ordered the defendant - represented by defence lawyer Mike Woolaghan - to pay £30 compensation as well as £85 costs and a £34 victim surcharge.
HYGIENE ratings for Copeland businesses have been revealed with some achieving top marks. Copeland Borough Council published its latest round of food hygiene ratings on Friday morning, local authorities work with the Food Standards agency when carrying out the checks. The council and standards agency awarded Morrisons on Flatt Walks in Whitehaven, a five for its impeccable food hygiene standards. The Morrisons Filling Station nearby also achieved a five. Pasta Delight in Inglenook Caravan Park, Lamplugh received a four, Cleator Moor Celtic AFC on Birks Road and McColls on Main Street, Egremont received both received a four. The Calder Lounge at The Banks in Seascale received a one for food hygiene standards.
