this morning the british government is reversing plans to scrap its highest income tax rate after a major backlash. the proposed tax cuts would have slashed the top income tax rate to 40% from 45% part of a package that triggered a chaotic week for britain s markets, stocks and bonds plunged while the pound sank to a record low against the u.s. dollar. what could this mean for the rest of the world? let s bring in christine romans to answer that question. this was quite the reversal. this was total turmoil in uk markets seen as a flashing warning sign for other developed nations in their fights against inflation. the pound has edged up after the u-turn around the same level
