CAMRA invites people to raise a glass for Beer Day Britain

Stourbridge craft beer shop unveils plan for tasting room

PLANS have been unveiled to create a sit-in tasting area for craft beer fans inside a Stourbridge off licence. The Hop Vault in Market Street has proved a popular addition to the town since it opened its doors last summer in the empty Music Matters unit. It has become a firm favourite with beer connoisseurs and those wondering what the craft ale craze is all about; and now plans have been submitted to Dudley Council to create a sit in tasting room the back - for up to around 30 people. A design and access statement submitted to planners states: The plan is to improve the current customer experience.

Pubs and breweries struggling amid lockdown takeaway beer ban

Pubs are struggling to survive in the latest lockdown PUBS and breweries in Stourbridge and Halesowen are fighting to survive amid latest lockdown restrictions which prevent them selling takeaway alcohol, CAMRA has claimed. In previous lockdowns, several pubs had been offering takeaway beer to help keep their heads above water and maintain contact with the community. Stourbridge & Halesowen Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) says the hospitality industry is being unfairly discriminated against, while supermarkets and off licences can continue to sell alcohol. This latest lockdown is proving the toughest yet for licensees, the local CAMRA branch has said and it is calling for a more sector-specific support programme from the government.
