to policy and really make a case to voters as to why democrats are in a better space. i hate the term hearts and minds but the democrats do have to figure out how to win the hearts and minds of voters. just campaigning against donald trump won t be enough. getting rid of the individual mandate, according to the experts, is probably going to make premiums rise about 10%. when average users of obamacare sees that, who owns it then? is it the republicans that own it or the democrats? it s republicans who own it because donald trump is president, he s republican and republicans control the congress. but i want to make a point about obamacare because i don t think it s a winning issue for either party. so, yes, nine million people signed up for obamacare but it s a little like you have one grocery store in town and it s not very good but what are you going drive 20 miles to go to a better grocery store? then a new grocery store comes in town with much higher quality products and bette
into question the investigation and information that came from it. so i think bacari is right on this, tainting the investigation with allegations of bias animal practice is all about the future, not really about the present. let s talk about obamacare now because the president is also tweeting saying that the individual mandate in obamacare is gone. republicans and democrats will work on a bipartisan agreement on health care. should the democrats put their frustration a side and help the gob work on a fix now, is that likely you think? no, that s already happening. what most people don t know about is lamar alexander and pat murry already working 0en a piece of legislation to fix obamacare. from the very beginning, even barack obama himself if someone comes with a fix to the program, we will go out and make sure we will sell the american people and fix obamacare. what we will not do is repeal obamacare. what we will not do is help the
areas that have lots of women voters. so i think the republicans are go in a very precarious situation in 2018. should democrats run on impeachment, steve? i think i don t think democrats do run on impeachment. i think rick s right. democrats are going to run against donald trump. there s plenty to run on here. you have tax reform, you have what s going on with health care, they continue to dismantle it even though the evidence suggests that people are embracing obamacare more than ever. and you ve got an incredibly historically unpopular president. so you don t even really need to go near impeachment. now i think if trump tries to fire robert mueller he changes the facts and the politics of this, but i don t think he s stupid enough to do that. and i think this election right now, if you look at the generic ballot or all the evidence that s out there right now, republicans are worried, they should be worried, and it s going to be a long year. fun fact about obamacare. for the
better grocery store. so that s where we are with obamacare. don t miss i don t think people the democrats should misunderstand that just because nine million people signed up doesn t mean they like it. there s lots of room for improvement in obamacare, especially with the premiums. and while it is true that premiums will go up, they ll go up on people like me, but they won t go up on the poor because the law says that the poor will get commensurate subsidies to offset those premium rises so it will be the middle-class who gets hurt. let s talk about russia. is that going to be a bigger headache for republicans in the political environment in 2018, steve? well, it s a nuisance for republicans, particularly mainstream republicans, who have been very critical of russia and taken a hard line on russia for their entire political careers and now they re suddenly having to appease russian involvement in american elections and defend the president who denies it s occurring even though
but it s out there. it s just drowned out by this president. again, it just brings out the worst. and it s poisoned by the president. there was a path to do health care reform with members from both parties. that if republicans had given up repeal and democrats had come to the table ready to fix, there could have been something. absolutely. it s also about missed opportunity? it s also because he doesn t understand the underlying policy. if you take repeal off the table, of course democrats will come to the table and try to fix obamacare because everyone acknowledges that there are issues that need to be fixed. because we want more people to have access to affordable care act, not less. and president trump s misunderstanding and lack of understanding of the details of details of policy has a tangible impact on this administration to tayely pass legislation. i think he is the reason why congress sun able to do anything because he is hampering their efforts. and when he says it s
