Ocala pizza deliveryman not cited in fatal crash with bicyclist
A driver who struck and killed a bicyclist in August will not be cited for the crash, the Florida Highway Patrol has announced.
The crash, which happened about 9:30 p.m. in the 2900 block of Northeast 25th Avenue in Ocala, claimed the life of 58-year-old Jeffrey Luther Sutton of Ocala.
According to a report from FHP Traffic Homicide Investigator Jessica Sabo, a Five Star Pizza deliveryman named Jesse Dennis Haeger, of Ocala, was driving his SUV north on 25th Avenue when he struck Sutton.
The driver called 911 and gave first aid to the victim. The trooper who interviewed Haeger said it didn t appear that the 27-year-old deliveryman was impaired, and a toxicology report later was negative for drugs and alcohol, according to the FHP.

More than 100 music fans flocked to Heartwood Soundstage’s outdoor venue on Saturday night for Indie Live, its first concert series since the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It feels almost unreal after all these months to be standing here,” University of Florida senior Morgan Simonson said, “watching and listening to live music.”
