2021 Five Points Jazz Festival delayed due to pandemic Kyle Cooke, RMPBS Share Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing “economic uncertainty,” the Five Points Jazz Festival is delaying its in-person festivities in 2021. “The most recent in-person Five Points Jazz Festival hosted more than 100,000, and we already know that type of in-person event can’t take place,” said Tariana Navas-Nieves in a news release. Navas-Nieves is the director of cultural affairs at Denver Arts & Venues, the festival’s producer. “Instead, we’re looking forward to unique ways to support this vibrant community both culturally and economically.” The annual festival is usually held on the third Saturday of May. In 2020, the festival was virtual and aired on Rocky Mountain PBS. You can watch the full festival below.

JJ Mazza Quintet - On Stage and Live Stream

This show will have a live audience and will be live streamed. JJ Mazza is a young Downbeat award winning drummer in the Denver area. A junior at the Denver School of the Arts, JJ has already put together an impressive resume, including: Denver School of the Arts Jazz Workshop Orchestra, Colorado All-State Jazz Band (2019,2021), Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Competition and Festival (2019,2020), UNC Jazz Festival, Blues Foundation International Blues Challenge, ASTA National Orchestra Festival, Five Points Jazz Festival, and more. JJ’s Quintet focuses on breathing new life into traditional jazz standards by emphasizing the connection between music of the past and music. They are incredibly grateful that you have taken the time to listen, and they thank Dazzle for providing a safe haven for musicians during this difficult time.
