PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – As 2020 winds down, many people are making new years resolutions.
Every year, gyms see a huge spike in business as people make promises to get healthier and back in shape. Many of Rhode Island’s gyms say they’re depending on that spike to stay afloat after a tough year of losses and shutdowns.
Core Fit Providence says they’re not only hopeful for the New Year business-wise, but for their members, too. It’s been a tough year for people mentally and physically and Denise Chakoian, owner of Core Fit Providence, says she wants to help people get back on track.
spirit will just move one night over this town. you have to sit back and think, why is god keeping this town alive if we re the poorest, and if we have the highest unemployment and crime rate. why won t god say, i ll go ahead and wipe this town out? they re useless. it s because he knows there s definitely hope here. that s why he s keeping us. because he believes, and he s waiting for us to start to believe in ourselves. this corner of louisiana near the mississippi river is a place of great natural wealth. cypress trees and corn fields and a lake so beautiful, they named it providence. but there s a curse this community can t shake. it s the most economically divided place in america.
we ll listen to the briefing once that starts. in the senate and house of represe representatives, they re moving along rapidly right now, getting ready for the official business to continue on. on the house floor, i want to listen in to see what s going on. be it providence or dor destiny, a unique man is now called to lead this effort. at a time when too few men remain unemployed, few businessmen will lead the house to encourage job creation. at a time when all agree our nation is on an unsustainable fiscal course, a fiscal reformer will ensure that this house never mortgages the torch of liberty in order to pay our debts. at a time when too many doubts that their children can enjoy a brighter future in our country,
