New fishery working groups hook into sustainable fisheries management

The Queensland Government is appointing new members to eleven fishery working groups to continue implementation of the Sustainable Fisheries Strategy.
Minister for Agricultural Industry Development and Fisheries Mark Furner said there was strong interest to join the groups, which are integral to delivering world-class fisheries management in Queensland.
“The fishery working groups are renewed every two years and this is an exciting opportunity to be part of sustainable fisheries management,” Mr Furner said.

Farmers in the Lockyer Valley will have more reliable weather predictions with a pilot program rolls out across the region.
The $280,000 project will deliver commercial-grade weather stations on Telstra sites, linked with the high-quality Bureau of Meteorology observation network and modelling capacities.
About 45 internet of Things enabled weather stations on Telstra sites will be installed, plus an additional 10 weather stations on farms at the DAF research facilities in the Lockyer, Esk Gatton.
Additional sites will be constructed in Toowoomba, Cecil Plains and the Darling Downs areas.
Minister for Agriculture Industry and Fisheries Mark Furner said more accurate weather forecasts and localised weather observations would help producers.

Telstra has teamed up with the Queensland government and the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) to run an Internet of Things (IoT) pilot program to help local farmers gain access to more accurate weather forecasts so they can manage the effects of weather and climate change on their farms.
